Glaston Group: Pushing the boundaries of glass processing

Glaston Group is a global leader in glass processing technologies, renowned for its technological innovation. The company offers a comprehensive and advanced range of glass heat treatment machinery, along with services, upgrades, modernizations, and spare parts for flat tempering, bending, bending-tempering, and laminating lines.

Safer, smarter, and more energy-efficient glass production

The Industry X project has provided Glaston with a prime opportunity to develop cutting-edge, intelligent glass production systems that advance the limits of current technologies. Glaston’s mission is to create safer, smarter, and more energy-efficient solutions, poised to revolutionize the glass industry.

Glaston focuses on three primary areas of development:

1. Digital twin technology

Glaston is creating detailed, data-driven digital representations of its production lines. These digital twins enable real-time performance analysis, agile testing, and productivity simulations. The ultimate goal is to develop digital twins not only for product types but for individual machines, allowing precise control and optimization of glass production processes.

2. Intelligent real-time machine control

Utilizing data from digital twins, Glaston is developing machine control systems based on advanced models rather than traditional algorithms. This will enable more precise, real-time control over glass production, improving product quality, increasing production capacity, and reducing the need for skilled operators. This shift to model-based control will also facilitate the integration of cloud computing and allow for continuous system updates to enhance performance.

3. Predictive maintenance and remote monitoring

Glaston is advancing data-driven service models for proactive monitoring and predictive maintenance of glass processing machines. By analyzing sensor data, Glaston can anticipate maintenance needs, prevent downtime, and optimize machine performance, leading to increased efficiency and sustainability.
